Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that city bus fares will be increased starting October 1, along with nearby cities Gwangyang, Yeosu, and Mokpo.
The increased city bus fares are 1,700 KRW from 1,500 KRW for adults, 1,360 KRW from 1,200 KRW for middle and high school students, and 850 KRW from 750 KRW for elementary school students.

However, city policy programs such as the 100 KRW bus fare for middle/high school and elementary students, a 100 KRW discount when using transportation cards, and free transfers on city buses (limited to one transfer within 60 minutes after getting off) will be maintained as they are.
The city is making every effort to prevent confusion among citizens when the fare increase takes effect on October 1 by posting updated fare tables inside city buses and promoting the changes through various media.
Additionally, using the ‘K-Pass’ card, introduced in May this year, can help save on public transportation costs. The ‘K-Pass’ card can be issued to any Suncheon citizen aged 19 or older through banks, and if public transportation is used more than 15 times per month, 20-53% of transportation expenses are refunded.
A city official stated, “Through the promotion of the Dajabo policy in Suncheon City, we will do our best to ensure that citizens feel an improvement in the quality of public transportation services beyond the increased fares.”
