Yangsan Holds Women's Employment Council Meeting
A Step Toward Expanding Women's Social and Economic Participation
Yangsan City in Gyeongnam held a Women's Employment Council meeting at Yangsan City Hall on the 24th, with the aim of forming a network related to women's employment projects. The meeting was attended by the Yangsan Women's Saeil Center, Hanseong Jeonjang, Emojomo, the Gender-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group, and the Gyeongnam Research Institute.
The Yangsan City Women's Employment Council is a consultative body established to discover local women's job opportunities and create a gender-equal working environment, thereby expanding women's social and economic participation. The council is chaired by the Division of Women and Youth and consists of eight members from six fields, including the Job Creation Team of the Department of Employment and Economy, the Yangsan Women's Saeil Center, representatives from companies related to women's employment, the Gender-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group, and gender experts.
At this meeting, information related to the discovery and connection of women's jobs was shared through updates from the Division of Civil Economy and the Yangsan Women's Saeil Center. In addition, representatives from companies related to women's employment were scheduled to share difficulties regarding recruitment and job retention in the private sector, and the Citizen Participation Group was to provide various opinions on women's employment projects.
Kang Jeongsuk, head of the Division of Women and Youth and chairperson of the Women's Employment Council, said, "Through this meeting, it was an opportunity to consider improvements based on difficulties and cases experienced in the field," and added, "We will continue to make efforts to expand women's social and economic participation and improve their working environment."
