'109km Round Trip' Amputee in His 60s Rejected by 12 Hospitals
Hospital Transfer Only 2 Hours After Accident
A man in his 60s who had his leg amputated during work was refused transfer by 12 nearby hospitals and was moved to a hospital about 109 km away.
According to the Changwon branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters on the 24th, at around 10:21 a.m. the previous day, a man in his 60s, Mr. A, who was working at a painting and coating processing factory in Beopsu-myeon, Haman-gun, got his left leg caught in a screw conveyor.
As a result of this accident, Mr. A's leg was amputated.
The fire authorities who responded to the report inquired about transferring Mr. A to 12 hospitals near the factory for treatment, but all refused.
Eventually, about two hours after the accident, at around 12:30 p.m. on the same day, Mr. A was transferred to a hospital in Daegu.
