Police Agency and Toss Launch Campaign to Eradicate Youth Cyber Gambling
Production of Public Service Advertisement Featuring Virtual Youth Protagonist
First Pickett Relay Participant is Police Commissioner Jo Jiho
The National Police Agency announced on the 23rd that it has launched a 'Cyber Gambling Eradication Campaign' in collaboration with Toss, a financial company widely used by teenagers.
This campaign consists of ▲producing a public service advertisement featuring a virtual teenager whose face is synthesized from actual youths who suffered damages from gambling ▲promoting services that make notifications and reports easy ▲and a relay-style participation chain.
The public service advertisement video was created with realistic content through the cooperation of teenagers who were actually harmed by cyber gambling in the past, featuring a fictional 16-year-old teenager named Park Doyoung as the main character. It delivers a message to alert and urge attention from parents who mistakenly believe, "My child would never gamble."
The National Police Agency and Toss introduce a service that reports suspected gambling accounts and guide how to report them to effectively help eradicate gambling. They provide a feature that displays warning alert messages when transferring money to accounts suspected of illegal gambling use, and a service that notifies connected family members of suspicious transactions or remittances, including the type of incident and date of occurrence. Additionally, a web-based system has been established to report Toss Bank accounts used in illegal gambling sites. Furthermore, a separate campaign website includes the internet address of the Korea Center on Gambling Problems Prevention and Treatment so that teenagers can self-assess their gambling issues, and a banner that allows easy access to the Cybercrime Reporting System (ECRM) site.
To spread the youth cyber gambling eradication campaign, a 'Picket Participation Relay' is being promoted. Participants take a photo of their image with the picket, then nominate two next participants and upload it on social networking services (SNS). Anyone can join the relay campaign by being nominated or voluntarily take a certification photo and nominate successors to participate in the campaign. The first picket relay participant was Police Commissioner Jo Jiho, followed by Lee Seung-geon, CEO of Viva Republica, which operates Toss.
