Hanwha Ocean, Technical Cooperation with ABS on Marine Business
Hanwha Ocean announced on the 23rd that it signed a 'Technical Cooperation Agreement on Offshore Business (OTCA)' with the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) at 'Gastech 2024' held in Houston, USA, and will jointly carry out leading technology development projects.
Through this agreement, both companies aim to enhance their core competencies in three areas: sustainability, digitalization, and artificial intelligence (AI) cybersecurity operation technologies, and are expected to collaborate on numerous cutting-edge projects utilizing these capabilities.
At Gastech 2024 held in Houston, USA, Kim Hee-chul, President of Hanwha Ocean (third from the right), Miguel Hernandez, Vice President of ABS Global Marine Division (fourth from the right), Philip Levy, Head of Hanwha Ocean Marine Business Division (fifth from the right), and Son Young-chang, Director of Hanwha Ocean Product Strategy and Technology Institute (sixth from the right), along with other representatives from both companies, attended the signing ceremony for a technology cooperation agreement related to the marine business.

This agreement aims to lead the development of innovative eco-friendly technologies to improve energy efficiency, such as carbon capture, offshore wind power technology integration, and electrification/e-mobility, with the goal of commercializing solutions applying these technologies.
Miguel Hernandez, Vice President of ABS Global Marine Division, stated, "Through cooperation with Hanwha Ocean, both companies will be able to leverage their extensive experience and accelerate the development of clean energy solutions."

Philip Levy, Head (President) of Hanwha Ocean's Offshore Business Division, said, "This agreement will structure our goal to propose safe, sustainable, and economical solutions for strategic customers aiming to develop low-cost and low-carbon intensity oil fields."
