On the 22nd, Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, visited evacuees who are currently staying at the auditorium of the Sanho-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Masanhappo-gu after suffering from extreme heavy rainfall. He promised a swift recovery to normal life and personally led restoration efforts at the affected site, reiterating his commitment.

View original imageDue to the record-breaking heavy rain that fell in Changwon City over two days, June 20th to 21st, a villa retaining wall (length=20m, height=3m) located in Sanho-dong, Masanhappo-gu, partially collapsed.
Upon receiving a report of the collapsed retaining wall around 10 p.m. on the 21st, Changwon City promptly dispatched teams to the site, evacuated all 54 residents (30 households) living in the villa, set up temporary accommodation at the nearby Sanho-dong Administrative Welfare Center, and provided relief supplies.
On the morning of the 22nd, Mayor Hong visited the temporary shelter to listen to the difficulties faced by the evacuees and promised to do his utmost to provide administrative support for their swift return to daily life.
He also visited the collapsed site with relevant departments, held an emergency countermeasure meeting, and discussed support plans for the evacuees as well as urgent reinforcement work and safety measures for the collapsed facility.
Mayor Hong stated, "Immediately activate the Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, form a working group, and do your utmost for facility restoration and relief support according to each department's responsibilities," adding, "We will swiftly restore the affected site and provide supplies to minimize inconvenience for residents displaced from their homes."
