Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) announced that it will operate a ‘Visiting Apartment Bicycle Repair Shop’ targeting apartment complexes with more than 200 households in the area.
As interest in health management and eco-friendly lifestyles increases, the demand for bicycle use and bicycle repairs is also rising. Accordingly, the district operates the ‘Visiting Apartment Bicycle Repair Shop’ for residents who find it difficult to visit repair centers by setting aside separate time.
The ‘Visiting Apartment Bicycle Repair Shop’ is conducted for 10 selected apartment complexes that have applied in advance through their management entities, and will be operated sequentially until October 22.
At temporary repair centers installed within the apartment complexes, professional companies provide free basic inspections such as bicycle tire inflation, gear adjustment, and chain oil application, while paid parts replacement and repairs are also available.
Last year, the repair shop visited 13 apartment complexes, receiving high interest and participation from bicycle users as a lifestyle service that enhances everyday convenience.
Seongdong-gu will also operate a visiting mobile bicycle repair center at local community centers and Yongbi Rest Area, where many bicycle users gather, until November 13. The service includes free basic inspections such as gear adjustment and tire pressure checks, as well as paid repair services like tire, brake, and chain replacement and installation.
Starting from September 4 at Sowol Art Hall, the service will be available at five community centers including Oksu-dong, the Dokseodang Humanities Academy Center, and Yongbi Rest Area. Operating hours are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (service is not available in case of rain).
The district also operates a permanent bicycle repair center near Oksu Station (168-1 Oksu-dong) where bicycles can be repaired at any time. It is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and weekends except public holidays.
