Changwon Special City, Democracy Hall → Official Name Decided as 'Korean Democracy Hall'
Final Decision Made at the City Coordination Committee Meeting
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held a City Administration Coordination Committee meeting on the 20th and decided on the official name of the facility currently under construction, which had been tentatively called the Changwon Democracy Hall, as the "Korea Democracy Hall."
The name "Korea Democracy Hall" was chosen because it has been familiar to citizens since it was first used in 2006 during the public naming contest and again in 2019 during the construction phase. Rather than limiting the scope to the local area, the name aims to establish the facility as a representative democracy hall of Korea, to be succeeded and developed further. The decision also reflects the intention for the space to become a familiar place where people across the nation can come together to understand the development process of democratization in Korea.
