Various Traditional Culture and Arts Performances Held for Three Days from 18th to 20th
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that the region's representative folk festival themed around the reunion of mother and daughter, the "Gapjin Year Masan Mannalje," was held successfully on the 18th at Mannal Neighborhood Park in Masanhappo-gu.
At the opening ceremony, Mayor Hong Nam-pyo of Changwon Special City attended, delivered a congratulatory speech, and took time to exchange Chuseok holiday greetings with citizens.
The Masan Mannalje is a representative traditional folk festival of Hangawi, aiming to provide a venue for neighbors to meet and to offer opportunities for harmony and communication among Changwon citizens. It is based on a touching legend of a mother and daughter's reunion that has been passed down since the Goryeo Dynasty, with the themes of meeting and longing.
This year's event began with the Youth Pansori Singer Contest on the 18th, and for three days, various traditional cultural and artistic performances and events will be held throughout Mannal Neighborhood Park in Masanhappo-gu. For two days until the 19th, experience booths such as making Songpyeon, bubble activities, and windmill and Hanbok experiences will be available.
Mayor Hong said, "I hope that through this year's Masan Mannalje, families and neighbors can reflect on the meaning of the holiday and create good memories together," and added, "Furthermore, I hope that Mannalje will remind us of the importance of family, foster affectionate bonds, and continue as a venue for harmony and local culture and arts."
