Gyeonggi Province will conduct hygiene inspections of food handling establishments in multi-use facilities from the 23rd to the 27th of this month to coincide with the autumn leisure season.
On the 19th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will carry out hygiene inspections targeting more than 720 food handling establishments across 31 cities and counties in the province. In major cities such as Suwon, Hwaseong, Goyang, and Seongnam, more than 30 locations will be inspected, while in other areas, at least 20 locations will be checked.
The inspections will focus on facilities frequently used by many people, such as highway rest areas, amusement parks, and national and public parks.
Hygiene management practices will be investigated at food handling establishments and food trucks within key facilities, with particular attention to the use of expired food products, sanitary conditions of cooking areas, and compliance with refrigeration and freezing temperature requirements.
If violations are found during the inspections, administrative actions will be taken against the respective establishments. In cases of serious violations, legal prosecution will be pursued. Violating businesses must undergo re-inspection within six months.
