Goyang-si to Build Bicycle Culture Complex Facility Under the Second Jayuro Overpass
Goyang-si "Establishing Itself as a Global Carbon Neutral City"
Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi announced on the 12th that it will promote the installation of a public-led bicycle culture complex facility.
As the first step, the city will create a bicycle culture complex facility utilizing the idle space under the elevated road, which can be used as a bicycle repair, sales, and rest area.
The facility will be built on a 3,331㎡ area under the No. 2 Jayuro elevated road near Haengju Fortress, including benches for resting, repair and maintenance spaces for managing bicycles, sales facilities, a cafe, restrooms, green spaces, pathways, and open areas.
In particular, through a modular design that allows the installation of various convenience facilities, it will provide customized spaces tailored to the needs of citizens.
The city plans to proceed with the project aiming for completion in June next year, following the review by the Public Design Promotion Committee and detailed design in August.
In addition, the city intends to establish an efficient operation system by integrating a mobile bicycle repair center and a bicycle recycling workshop.
The city expects that the establishment of the bicycle culture complex facility will contribute to fostering the bicycle industry, spreading bicycle culture, revitalizing the local economy, and creating a pleasant environment for future generations.
