50s Arrested for Killing Junior Colleague Over 'Work Style Conflict'
Murdered with a Weapon in Front of Elevator
A man in his 50s who killed a junior colleague after a workplace conflict has been arrested.
The Gwangju Western Police Station, investigating the murder of a resident in an apartment complex in Pungam-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, detained a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, on the 11th on suspicion of murder. Mr. A is accused of stabbing his junior colleague, Mr. B, also in his 50s, multiple times with a weapon in front of an elevator inside an apartment in Pungam-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju, at 7:34 a.m. on the 9th, causing his death.
Mr. A attacked Mr. B, who had just stepped outside his home to go to work, with a weapon he had prepared in advance. When Mr. B resisted after being stabbed, Mr. A reportedly took out another weapon from his pocket and swung it again.
CCTV footage around the apartment shows Mr. A waiting near the apartment for Mr. B for about an hour and 30 minutes before the incident.
During the police investigation, Mr. A stated that although he and Mr. B were close in age and had a strong friendship, they had conflicts due to differences in their approaches to work. A witness testified that Mr. A, who had conflicts with Mr. B, had not attended workplace meetings for the past two months.

At the on-site inspection held at the scene of the incident that afternoon, Mr. A said, "I do not clearly remember why or how it happened." The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the exact circumstances of the case and plan to transfer Mr. A to the prosecution soon.
