National Merit Recipient Shin Yongtae Donates Consolation Gifts for Veterans' Families
The Gyeongnam Eastern Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs received consolation gifts for veterans' families from Shin Yongtae (age 78), a national meritorious person, in Bugok-myeon, Changnyeong-gun, in celebration of Chuseok, Korea's traditional holiday.
The consolation gifts, received on the 10th, consist of 50 bags of eco-friendly rice and will be delivered to veterans' families experiencing financial difficulties.
Cho Kyungchul, head of the Gyeongnam Eastern Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, said, "I would like to thank Mr. Shin Yongtae for supporting consolation gifts for veterans' families every holiday. I believe that this sponsorship will further spread the culture of respecting and honoring those who served the nation, and I hope that 'living patriotism in everyday life, patriotism for all' will take root in our society."
Mr. Shin, a national meritorious person, has been donating consolation gifts for veterans' families every holiday since 2013, and has continuously practiced sharing not only for veterans' families but also for neighbors in need in the local community.
In recognition of these contributions, he received the Presidential Commendation at the 2022 Government Awards Ceremony for the Month of Patriots and Veterans, and was awarded the Changnyeong County Citizen Grand Prize in 2024.
