Seocho-gu Leads the Future as a Lifelong Learning City... Launch of the 'Lifelong Education Council'

View original imageSeocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 8th that it held the inauguration ceremony and the 1st meeting of the '2024 Lifelong Education Council' on the 6th to discuss development plans for designating Seocho-gu as a lifelong learning city.
The members of the Seocho-gu Lifelong Education Council include experts with knowledge and experience related to lifelong education such as Namhyo Koo, Director of Administrative Support at Gangnam and Seocho Office of Education; Jongseon Kim, Director of Planning and Coordination at Seoul Lifelong Education Promotion Institute; Seunghee Jeon, Director of Banpo Library in Seocho; Daehee Park, Director of Yangjae Comprehensive Social Welfare Center in Seocho; Jiyoon Jung, Director of Seocho Lifelong Education Center for People with Developmental Disabilities; Haneulnara Park, Director of Neutinamu Shelter in Seocho; Minseon Shin, Professor at Seoul Women’s University College of Liberal Arts; Seo-young Ha and Eun-kyung Lee, members of the Seocho-gu Council; and Jaejin Lee, Director of Bright Future Bureau in Seocho-gu.
At the first meeting, opinions were shared on strengthening demand-centered lifelong learning policies and enhancing networks among lifelong education institutions and related organizations within the region. Accordingly, to establish customized lifelong education policies for each life cycle, Seocho-gu plans to activate networks among related institutions and build a lifelong learning promotion system that serves as a control tower for lifelong education in Seocho-gu.
Meanwhile, Seocho-gu will promote the operation of the nation’s first Father Center, the first local government-linked national lifelong education voucher system, and the Seocho-type lifelong education voucher support project. It will also expand lifelong education for learning-disadvantaged groups such as people with borderline intellectual functioning and disabilities, which Seocho-gu is actively pursuing.
