The eternal baby panda, Pubao, has become a hot topic by topping the box office as soon as he debuted as a movie actor.
Everland, the resort division of Samsung C&T Corporation, announced on the 5th that the movie "Hello, Grandpa," co-produced with content producer Acoms, ranked first in the overall box office upon its release.
"Hello, Grandpa" tells the story of the panda family and their zookeepers, from the arrival of Pubao's parents, Aibao and Lubao, to Pubao's birth and growth, and the twin siblings Ruibao and Huibao.
In particular, it focuses on the last three months of Pubao's journey before he left for China this year. Previously unreleased footage and interviews with zookeepers Kang Cheol-won and Song Young-kwan were revealed for the first time. The film is currently showing nationwide at theaters including CGV, Lotte Cinema, and Megabox.
According to the integrated ticketing system for movie theaters, the number of viewers for "Hello, Grandpa" on its opening day, the previous day, was 39,560. It ranked first in the overall box office.
This number exceeded the opening day audiences of the highest-grossing documentaries of all time, such as "My Love, Don't Cross That River" (opening score 8,607) and "Old Partner" (opening score 1,091).
