Cheonan Sets Next Year's Living Wage at 11,876 Won Per Hour
1,846 Won Higher Than Next Year's Minimum Wage
Cheonan City in Chungnam Province announced on the 5th that it has set the hourly living wage for next year at 11,876 won.
This represents an increase of 256 won, or 2.2%, compared to this year's living wage of 11,620 won per hour. Based on a standard of 209 working hours per month at 40 hours per week, the monthly wage will rise from 2,428,580 won to 2,482,084 won.
This amount is also 1,846 won higher than the 2025 minimum wage of 10,030 won per hour announced by the government.
A total of about 1,100 workers, including those employed by the city, city-funded and city-invested institutions, and companies entrusted with city operations, will be subject to the living wage.
A Cheonan City official stated, "We have determined the living wage by taking into account the circumstances of the Cheonan region," and added, "Through this, we expect to promote the stability of workers' livelihoods, improve the quality of the workforce, and enhance the welfare of citizens."
