The Dankye Market Facility Modernization Project, a pledge project of the 8th popularly elected administration, was promoted to improve the outdated market buildings, which are over 40 years old, and the limited parking space.
In particular, 2.4 billion KRW was secured for the project by being selected for the "2023 Traditional Market Facility Modernization Contest Project" by Gyeongnam Province.
The project began in January last year with compensation negotiations and demolition for the parking lot site and continued until August this year, resulting in the construction of six market buildings (300㎡), two arcades (200㎡), and 32 parking spaces (on a 1,200㎡ site near the market).
Governor Lee said, "Through this project, Dankye Market has shed its outdated image, and consumers can now enjoy a more pleasant environment," adding, "I hope Dankye Traditional Market will attract even more consumers and tourists in the future."
