Pusan National University Launches 'The Good School' Future-Oriented Education Brand
Specialized Training Linked to Nine Major Industries in Busan Held Annually
First Fintech Course to Start in October, Student Recruitment Begins on the 5th
MICE Program to Launch in 2025, Lifecare in 2026
Pusan National University is taking the lead in nurturing talent tailored to Busan's key industries by establishing "The Good School," a Busan-specialized educational program, at its on-campus Future Citizen Education Institute.
The Future Citizen Education Institute is the newly launched name for the university's former "Lifelong Education Institute," effective from September 1, 2024.
Beginning in October, "The Good School" will officially commence operations, offering new professional courses each year aligned with Busan's nine strategic industries.
Pusan National University (President Choi Jaewon) will launch the "2024 Fintech Academy" as the first course of "The Good School," focusing on finance education for building global urban infrastructure. From the 5th to the 25th, 40 students will be recruited through the Future Citizen Education Institute’s website. The course starts on October 12 and is offered free of charge every Saturday for a total of 60 hours.
The "2024 Fintech Academy," the first course of the year, aims to present the overall flow of the fintech industry through practical educational content that can be applied not only to the job market but also to entrepreneurship, fostering convergent thinking in economics and technology.
In the coming years, Pusan National University plans to introduce and operate specialized education in response to Busan's key industries, such as MICE (2025) and Life Care (2026), through "The Good School." This initiative is expected to enhance public awareness of local industries, provide retraining for industry professionals, and guide prospective talent.
"The Good School" is a core project of the Glocal University initiative and is operated to help prevent the outflow of talent from Busan and lay the foundation for "Busan as a lifelong place to live." The university, Busan Metropolitan City, and the industrial sector are working together to establish a collaborative system between local industry and academia for mutual growth.
Notably, "The Good School" differentiates itself from existing programs by providing Busan-specific, customized education across all life stages, from adults to elementary, middle, and high school students, as a lifelong educational brand.
Lee Kiyoung (Professor of Social Welfare), Director of the Future Citizen Education Institute at Pusan National University, who oversees "The Good School," stated, "We hope The Good School will become a beloved platform where anyone can understand and learn about Busan's industries," adding, "It will offer new opportunities not only for job seekers preparing for their first career but also for middle-aged participants planning their second act in life through specialized education."
