View original imageGangnam-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong) is hosting discount events and special activities for Chuseok at three traditional markets in collaboration with market merchant associations. Yeongdong Traditional Market and Dogok Market will offer discounts of up to 10% on ritual items from the 9th to the 14th, while Gangnam Gaepo Market will run the discounts from the 5th to the 12th.
Holiday events will be held on the 9th and 12th. Yeongdong Traditional Market will hold an event on the 9th from 12 PM to 6 PM. Customers who spend over 30,000 KRW can participate in a lottery event to win prizes such as sesame oil, jeon (Korean pancakes), and rice cakes. From 4 PM, the market will be enlivened with performances including beef dance, fusion gugak (traditional Korean music), and trot music.
As part of a joint marketing event selected through the Small and Medium Venture Business Administration’s Market Management Package Support Project, a companion festival will be held from the 3rd to the 9th. During this period, customers who use the stores can enter the event by scanning a QR code, with a chance to win card-type Onnuri gift certificates through a draw.
Dogok Market will hold an event on the 9th from 2 PM to 5 PM. Customers who spend over 10,000 KRW can participate in roulette and balloon dart events to win prizes such as cooking oil, ramen, and glass noodles. Traditional folk game experiences including Yutnori, jegichagi (shuttlecock kicking), tuho throwing, and making traditional fans and jegi will be available. A trot performance by a guest singer, enjoyed by both merchants and customers, will also take place.
Gangnam Gaepo Market will hold an event on the 12th from 1 PM to 4 PM. Customers who spend over 10,000 KRW can participate in traditional pattern rice cake making, eco-friendly succulent pot making, and nostalgic games such as rubber shoe curling and breaking king selection. Posting event experiences on social networking services (SNS) will allow participants to receive various prizes such as microwave reusable containers, dishcloths, and back scratchers. Seniors who spend over 30,000 KRW will be given kitchen towels as gifts.
