Middle School Student Awarded for Saving Hypoglycemic Patient with Pepero on Soccer Field
"Feeling Proud to Save Lives with Small Acts of Kindness"
A middle school student who calmly offered help to a patient who collapsed due to hypoglycemia received a commendation from the education office. He expressed pride in being able to save a life thanks to the school's first aid training.
On the 3rd, the Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it awarded a commendation in the name of the Incheon Superintendent of Education to Song Minjae (15), a third-year student at Seongri Middle School. Last month on the 17th, Song was waiting to pay at a convenience store inside Daejeon World Cup Stadium when he saw a man, Mr. A, suddenly collapse beside him.

Recalling the first aid techniques he learned at school, he calmly stepped in to help. He shook Mr. A's shoulder to check his condition and confirmed whether he was breathing properly.
Understanding Mr. A's slurred request for "something sweet," he reached out to the counter, took out a chocolate snack, Pepero, and put it into Mr. A's mouth.
Mr. A, who was suffering from hypoglycemia combined with dehydration symptoms, barely regained consciousness thanks to Song's first aid and expressed his gratitude. Mr. A sat on the stadium stairs for about 10 minutes to regain stability before moving on. It is known that Mr. A, who usually suffers from hypoglycemia, briefly lost consciousness due to the added dehydration symptoms.
It was reported that Song attended the K League 1 soccer match between Daejeon Hana Citizen and Incheon United held at Daejeon World Cup Stadium that day as an away fan.
At the commendation ceremony, Song said, "I felt proud to be able to save a life through a small act of kindness," and added, "I hope the education office and schools continue to provide first aid training in the future."
