Establishment of the Department of Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Studies
From AI Application to Companion Animal Majors
Celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, Mokwon University will select 1,727 students, accounting for 98.8% of the total 1,748 recruits, through early admission. Starting this year, the university has established the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies and the Department of Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Studies, as well as newly created the AI (Artificial Intelligence) Applied Department and the Department of Performance Content, reflecting social demand.
In detail, the early admission selection includes 1,018 students through the Student Record Curriculum (Curriculum Screening), 43 students through Student Record Curriculum (Curriculum Interview Screening), 143 students through Student Record Curriculum (Regional Talent Screening), 24 students through Student Record Comprehensive Screening, 64 students through Practical Skills and Achievements (Practical Curriculum Screening), and 426 students through Practical Skills and Achievements (Practical Screening).
The method for reflecting student record curriculum grades considers the top 5 subjects and the top 3 career elective subjects, totaling 8 subjects, regardless of grade level.
Mokwon University implements education that integrates knowledge from various fields such as culture and arts, humanities and social sciences, and science and technology. One of its strengths is actively supporting the expansion of students' educational choices through career and curriculum design support using 165 major modules and the expansion of small-unit degree programs such as AI convergence micro-degrees.
In particular, starting this year, the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies is established with the purpose of supporting students to design their majors suited to their aptitudes with sufficient time. The Department of Creative Arts Interdisciplinary Studies is based on the College of Fine Arts and Design and the College of Webtoon, Animation, and Games. It provides students who wish to advance to related majors the opportunity to select departments and majors that match their aptitude and demand.
Additionally, the AI Applied Department and the Department of Performance Content, customized departments reflecting social and industrial demand, are newly established. The AI Applied Department is an advanced department aimed at nurturing talent entering the rapidly growing AI field, covering AI technology principles broadly from basics to advanced areas, and providing industry-oriented education linking AI with computer vision, robotics, and automation.

For the Department of Performance Content, the existing Vocal Music and Musical Theater Department has been expanded to include the Performance Content Planning major. The Department of Bio-Industry has newly established the Companion Animal major to cultivate experts in the companion animal industry, which is gaining attention as a new growth industry in life sciences.
