Ulsan Office of Education to Strengthen Deepfake Sex Crime Prevention Education
Special Education Week Held for Two Weeks at Schools with Intensive Training
Awareness Survey for Students, Roundtable Discussion Scheduled in September
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsu) is strengthening preventive education related to illegal synthetic materials (deepfake) sex crimes, which have recently emerged as a serious social issue. As part of this effort, it will operate a 'Special Education Week for School Deepfake Sex Crime Prevention' for two weeks until the 14th.
During this period, schools will utilize Gender Equality Education Week and other programs to reinforce digital ethics and personal information protection education, emphasizing that digital sexual violence is a serious crime. Intensive training will also be provided on prevention and response strategies.
The Ulsan Office of Education will distribute digital sex crime educational materials during the special education week and conduct emergency meetings with school principals on sex crime prevention and response. Additional programs include separate sexual harassment and violence prevention education for high-ranking officials, training for student life education staff, and on-site digital sexual violence prevention education at schools.
In addition, to raise awareness of sex crimes such as illegal synthetic materials and to establish related policies, a 'Ulsan Student Illegal Synthetic Material (Deepfake) Awareness Survey' will be conducted for elementary (grades 4-6), middle, and high school students.
In September, a roundtable discussion for students, parents, and teachers hosted by the School Violence Eradication Task Force under the direct supervision of the superintendent will be held to develop practical digital sexual violence prevention and action plans proposed and implemented by students. Each school will also carry out digital sexual violence prevention activities led by the student council.
Since last week, the Office of Education has been providing information on 'Digital Sex Crime Victim Prevention and Response Guidelines' and the 'Reporting Center' through banner ads (banners) linked directly from school websites.
Customized counseling and psychological treatment are also supported through the Dong-gu Family Sexual Violence Integrated Counseling Center, a digital sex crime specialized counseling center in the Ulsan area.
The Office of Education will regularly survey the status of student and staff victims to improve response policies and plans to expand next year's sex education budget to intensively operate sexual harassment and violence prevention programs.
