Dongdaemun-gu, Correcting Challenging Behaviors of People with Developmental Disabilities Using AI
AI Identifies Problematic Behavior in CCTV Footage for Quick Solutions
Secured 75 Million KRW Funding ... Plans to Operate 10 CCTV Cameras and 1 AI Server
An artificial intelligence (AI) technology capable of correcting the ‘challenging behaviors’ of people with developmental disabilities will be introduced at the Lifelong Education Center for People with Developmental Disabilities in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Cheonggyecheon-ro 521, Dasarang Happiness Center, 9th floor).
‘Challenging behaviors’ refer to problematic actions such as people with developmental disabilities hitting or pushing themselves or others.
Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 3rd that it has been selected for the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s ‘AI Utilization Developmental Disabilities Challenging Behavior Analysis System Installation Support Project’ and secured 75 million KRW in city funds for project operation.
The system analyzes the frequency and patterns of behaviors of people with developmental disabilities recorded on CCTV using AI, identifies parts recognized as ‘challenging behaviors,’ and provides them to behavior modification experts.
Experts do not need to watch long hours of CCTV footage themselves to find problematic behaviors, enabling them to provide correction solutions more easily and quickly.
Once the subsidy is granted, the district plans to install 10 CCTVs in classrooms, dining areas, and hallways where people with developmental disabilities are active within the Dongdaemun-gu Lifelong Education Center for People with Developmental Disabilities, and operate one AI server in the integrated office.
