Died After Friday Shift, Discovered Only After 4 Days
Foul Odor Present but Thought to Be Plumbing Issue
A 60-year-old employee who worked at a famous American bank became a nationwide topic in the United States after he died at the office. The office was divided by cubicles, and although the employee came to work in good health, he was found dead slumped over his desk only after four days by his colleagues.
According to reports from multiple American media outlets including NBC on the 31st, Dennis Prudhom, 60, was found dead on the 20th at the Wells Fargo office in Tempe, Arizona, in the western United States. Attendance records show that Prudhom clocked in at 7 a.m. on Friday the 16th, but he was only discovered dead four days later on Tuesday.
Since most of the office was partitioned by cubicles and employees did not communicate unless necessary for work, no one noticed his death inside the cubicle. Many employees complained about a foul odor in the office but assumed it was due to plumbing issues. Colleagues said, "It's hard to believe he was dead at his desk for several days. His last moments must have been very lonely." Another employee said, "If I were just sitting there, no one would have checked on me either." NBC reported that "Prudhom’s office is located on the third floor of Wells Fargo, away from the central aisle lined with desks."
