Gachibom Film Festival Screens Three Sign Language Films Including 'Pamyoo'
'Jibeuro...' and 'Simindeokhui' too
The Gachibom Film Festival, which brings together people with and without disabilities, will showcase sign language films for the first time. Three films will be screened over two days on the 5th and 6th of next month. The films are Lee Jeong-hyang's "To Home...(2002)," Park Young-joo's "Citizen Deok-hee (2024)," and Jang Jae-hyun's "Pamyoh (2024)." All were selected as films that deaf and sign language users wanted to see based on a survey conducted among them.
The Korea Association of the Deaf produced the sign language films with support from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Film Council. The videos include Korean subtitles (CC) and sign language interpretation for the Gachibom Film Festival. An official stated, "We expect interest and enthusiasm for sign language to increase."
