The council requested the National Assembly to promote legislation reflecting special provisions related to the council within the Jeonbuk Special Act, such as expanding the number of Jeonbuk council members, transferring the Audit Committee and Auditor to the council’s jurisdiction, and establishing independent personnel authority over local council education and cultural affairs.
Shin Jeong-hoon, chairman of the National Assembly’s Administrative and Security Committee, stated, "We have been advocating for the establishment of local autonomy and decentralization for years, but compared to the increasingly bloated executive branch, the actual authority of local councils has not been secured." He added, "Since the Jeonbuk Provincial Council has taken the lead in requesting related legislation, we will prioritize reflecting the expansion of Jeonbuk council members in the Jeonbuk Special Act."
Chairman Moon Seung-woo said, "Expanding and adjusting the council’s authority to fit regional realities is an expression of the will to more actively reflect residents’ voices in government policies," and added, "I hope the council’s requests will be actively pursued through legislative activities in the 22nd National Assembly."
