Jongno-gu Opens Nation's First 'Employment Capacity Building Center for the Visually Impaired'

View original imageJongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jeong Munheon) announced on the 28th that it will open the 'Employment Competency Enhancement Center for the Visually Impaired,' a district-run facility providing individualized vocational adaptation training for the visually impaired for the first time nationwide, and will begin operations next month.
The district plans to use this center as a hub to strengthen the vocational skills of the visually impaired and support their economic independence.
The target users are visually impaired individuals aged 18 and older who have difficulties adapting to employment. The center offers vocational aptitude development and training programs as well as social skills improvement education to help overcome various challenges encountered in the workplace. Additionally, one-on-one customized case management is provided for those with severe visual impairments.
The opening ceremony held on the 26th was attended by Jeong Munheon, Mayor of Jongno-gu, Jo Yangsuk, Principal of the National Seoul School for the Blind, and members of the Korea Association of Families of the Visually Impaired.

Mayor Jeong stated, “I hope that visually impaired individuals will participate in various training programs at the center, gain competitiveness, and succeed in employment,” adding, “We will continue to strive to improve the welfare of residents with disabilities.”
