"We Will Overcome the Tax Revenue Crisis" ... Changwon Special City Holds Resolution Rally to Expand Local Tax Revenue
On the 27th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held a resolution meeting at the Changwon Convention Center, attended by more than 100 local tax revenue officials including the First Vice Mayor, Jang Geumyong, to pledge to expand local tax revenue.
This resolution meeting was organized to strengthen their determination to overcome the tax revenue crisis, as local finances have been put on alert due to poor corporate performance caused by the overall economic downturn and a decrease in local allocation tax due to the government's tax revenue shortfall.
The local tax and non-tax revenue officials who gathered on this day expressed their firm commitment to achieving the local tax revenue target for the second half of the year, showing a strong will to expand local tax revenue, which is a key independent financial resource.
In particular, before the resolution meeting, Changwon City invited Investigator Kim Ikjoong from the 38 Tax Collection Division of Seoul Metropolitan Government to conduct a special lecture on “Practical Delinquent Tax Collection,” providing an opportunity for staff to enhance their work capabilities by learning about the excellent delinquent tax collection techniques and practices unique to the 38 Tax Collection Division.
Vice Mayor Jang said, “With the strong determination shown by the local tax revenue officials at today's resolution meeting, we will achieve the collection targets for local taxes and non-tax revenues without fail and do our best to expand local tax revenue. Through high-quality work training such as special lectures by outstanding instructors, we will enhance the work capabilities of our staff, pay close attention to the working environment and difficulties of local tax officials, and strive to create a workplace where employees are motivated to work.”
Meanwhile, at the event, Changwon City also operated a morale-boosting program for local tax revenue officials who are experiencing increased workloads due to the opening of the next-generation local tax revenue information system.
