'1 Trillion Won Illegal Multi-Level Marketing Suspicion' Lee Sang-eun, Chairman of Huestem Korea, Faces Arrest Decision
Pretrial Detention Hearing on the 27th
Lee Sang-eun, CEO of Huestem Korea, who is suspected of a 1 trillion won-scale illegal multi-level marketing fraud, is facing detention.
On the 27th, the Financial Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that they applied for an arrest warrant for CEO Lee last week on charges including fraud.
The pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) for CEO Lee will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Seoul Central District Court.
CEO Lee is accused of using a multi-level marketing-like organization to simulate trading goods and collecting over 1 trillion won from 100,000 people under the pretext of membership fees.
Previously, CEO Lee was arrested and indicted in January on charges of violating the Act on Door-to-Door Sales, etc., and was on trial until he was released on bail in May of the same year.

The prosecution had requested a heavy sentence of 7 years imprisonment for CEO Lee in the first trial.
