70-Year-Old Arrested in Gwangju for Detonating Explosives Over Treatment Complaints
A man in his 70s was arrested for setting a fire by detonating explosives due to dissatisfaction with dental treatment.
The Gwangju Seobu Police Station arrested Kim Mo (79) on the 24th on charges of arson of an occupied building and other offenses.
Kim is accused of lighting and detonating a box containing butane gas and flammable materials at a dental hospital in Chipyeong-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju on the 22nd, then fleeing the scene.
He had received prosthetic treatment (crowns) five times since mid-last month at the hospital but complained of pain and protested to the dental clinic. Although he agreed to undergo a recommended re-treatment, he did not visit on the scheduled day and committed the crime the following day, according to the investigation.

Afterwards, Kim fled by taxi but surrendered about two hours after the incident. During the police investigation, Kim reportedly stated that he committed the crime out of anger due to severe pain.
