The contest is open to anyone with cases or new ideas for utilizing spatial information in various fields such as transportation and environment in both public and private sectors. It is hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and planned by the Spatial Information Industry Promotion Agency.
Ulsan Metropolitan City Buk-gu, selected as an outstanding case, used the Ministry’s National Spatial Information Integration Platform (K-Geo) to create 18 thematic maps that can be viewed at a glance. Through this, they provided visualized services categorized into 18 themes such as cultural facilities and restaurants.
This year’s contest will be held without distinction between public and private sectors. This is a measure to strengthen the network between public and private participants. Previously, the contest was held separately for public and private sectors.
A total of 10 cases and ideas for spatial information utilization will be selected in the contest. First, in the first round of document screening, 5 public and 5 private cases will be chosen based on six criteria including originality and innovation. The final ranking will be determined in the second round of presentation evaluation.
The total prize money is 10 million KRW, with two grand prize teams (Minister’s Award, 2 million KRW each), four excellence award teams (Director of Promotion Agency Award, 1 million KRW each), and four merit award teams (Director of Promotion Agency Award, 500,000 KRW each). The awards ceremony will be held at the '2024 K-Geo Festa' on November 7, themed on spatial information utilization trends.
Additionally, the outstanding cases and ideas from the winners will be produced as card news and published on the V-World website. Detailed information about the contest can be found on the V-World website.
