The Cheonan-Asan Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice announced on the 20th the results of its evaluation of legislative activities for the first half of the 9th Cheonan and Asan City Councils, covering the period from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2024.
The Cheonan-Asan Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice conducted the evaluation to assess policy development capabilities and fulfill the public's right to know.
The evaluation criteria consisted of 10 quantitative indicators in four main categories: attendance rate (standing committees, plenary sessions), policy activities (five-minute speeches, administrative questions), legislative activities (enactment and revision of ordinances), and other legislative activities (research groups, collecting opinions through petitions and appeals, etc.). Based on these, council members were classified into S (top 30%), A (top 60%), and B (bottom 40%) grades.
As a result, Kim Gilja (Cheonan City Council) and Myung Nobong (Asan City Council) were each selected as outstanding council members in the first-half evaluation. The S grade, representing the top 30% of Cheonan City Council members, included Kim Gilja (Democratic), Park Jonggap (Democratic), Bok Ayoung (Democratic), Lee Byungha (Democratic), Lee Jongdam (Independent), Lee Jiweon (People Power), and Jung Sunhee (Democratic).
The S grade for Asan City Council members included Myung Nobong (Democratic), Kim Miseong (Democratic), Maeng Uiseok (People Power), Lee Giae (People Power), and Lee Chunho (Democratic).

A representative of the Cheonan-Asan Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice stated, "We hope that this legislative activity evaluation project will encourage local council members to be more diligent in their duties," adding, "We also hope that such evaluation data will be reflected in candidate nominations, helping more qualified individuals to enter local councils."
