Law firm YK (representative lawyers Kyunghoon Kang and Beomhan Kim) has launched the Family Inheritance and Business Succession Center.
The center provides comprehensive legal services related to inheritance and business succession, ranging from responding to inheritance and gift tax audits to asset-related consulting and litigation, as well as planning for family business inheritance and gifting.
As the demand for legal advice on business succession due to generational changes among corporate CEOs is increasing, the firm plans to expand and reorganize its existing Civil and Family Affairs Division into the Family Inheritance and Business Succession Center to strengthen its competitiveness in family and inheritance-related matters.
The center is led by Ba Ingu, the head lawyer in charge of family affairs (age 56, Judicial Research and Training Institute class 25), who serves as the center director.
Tax law expert Han Mansu (age 66, class 13) also participates as an advisor. Representative Han is an authority in tax law who has provided tax consulting for over 20 years at Kim & Chang and Yulchon, and has been mentioned as a candidate for Commissioner of the National Tax Service.
In addition, lawyers Lee Kwangjin (age 39, class 44), Lim Hyojin (age 43, first bar exam), Jo Hanna (age 41, fifth bar exam), Lee Hanna (age 37, fifth bar exam), and Lee Junyeop (age 37, fifth bar exam) have joined the center to enhance its expertise.
Director Bae served as a senior judge (specializing in family and juvenile cases) at the Seoul Family Court for five years starting in 2011. During this period, he held positions such as head of the Supreme Court’s Task Force for the Implementation of Adult Guardianship, leader of the Guardianship Supervision Research Group, chairman of the Seoul Family Court Child Support Committee, member of the Supreme Court Family Litigation Law Revision Committee, member of the Ministry of Justice Civil Code Revision Committee, and member of the Ministry of Justice Civil Procedure Law Revision Committee.
In 2018, he acted as the representative lawyer for SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won in the first trial of the divorce lawsuit with No Soyoung, director of the Art Center Nabi. Currently, he represents the side of Kim Heeyoung, director of the T&C Foundation and cohabitant of Chairman Chey, in a claim for consolation damages filed by Director No Soyoung.
Director Bae stated, "There is a growing social demand to resolve legal issues such as guardianship, wills, and inheritance caused by aging all at once. We will do our best to provide customized legal solutions that can satisfy the diverse needs of clients, including dispute resolution and enforcement."
