Kim Junghun, Professor at Yongin University, Appointed Chairman of Taekwondo Promotion Foundation
Key Figure in Hosting the 2017 World Taekwondo Championships
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 19th that Professor Kim Jung-heon of the Taekwondo Department at Yongin University has been appointed as the chairman of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation. The term is three years.
Chairman Kim, a former taekwondo practitioner, earned his master's and doctoral degrees in sports management from Minnesota State University, USA. Since 2005, he has served as a professor in the Taekwondo Department at Yongin University and concurrently held positions such as chairman of the Poomsae Committee of the World Taekwondo Federation and secretary-general of the Asian Taekwondo Union. Notably, in 2015, while serving as secretary-general of the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation, he played a leading role in securing the 2017 World Taekwondo Championships and contributed to the revitalization of Taekwondowon.
