Kim Min-seok "Proposal for Han Dong-hoon's Financial Investment Tax Abolition Debate? Prioritize Intra-Party Discussion"
"High-Level Discussions Already Underway Within the Party"
Kim Min-seok, Senior Supreme Council Member of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed the position that "internal party discussion comes first" regarding Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party's proposal to abolish the 'Financial Investment Income Tax (Geumtu Tax)'.

Regarding Leader Han's remarks about the 'Special Prosecutor Law for Chae Sang-byeong,' suggesting that "it is necessary to include the suspicion of whistleblower manipulation in the investigation," Kim said, "The special prosecutor is basically about quickly uncovering the truth related to power within a limited time and with limited capabilities," and criticized, "No one who understands the purpose of the special prosecutor would add things that do not fit its intent, but seeing that, the theory of 'Lee Jae-myung and Cho Kuk judgment' (Ijo Simpanron) immediately came up."
On the political role of former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyung-soo, he said, "He probably has some schedule for return and political plans he has considered," and added, "If Governor Kim Kyung-soo comes, we can discuss what would be optimal."
Regarding Kim Tae-hyo, First Deputy Director of the National Security Office at the Presidential Office, and his remark that "the important thing is Japan's mindset," Kim criticized, saying, "Diplomacy is about considering national interests and based on the people's sentiment, having principles to demand, persuade, and engage in dialogue with the other party to resolve issues," and added, "Is he grandiosely saying that it would be better not to apologize considering the mindset of those who do not want to apologize for their wrongdoing?"

Regarding concerns that the judicial risks of Lee Jae-myung, the new leader of the Democratic Party, might become a catalyst for internal party division, Kim dismissed the notion, saying, "We have thoroughly and for a long time conducted legal reviews and have sincerely engaged in the trial," and added, "Party members were not unaware of the overall circumstances during the process of selecting the party leader, so I do not see that as something that could cause discord."
