Nursing Home Director Arrested for 7 Years of False '0' Usage Reports and Unpaid Gas Bills
Fraud and Obstruction of Official Duties Charges for Evading Approximately 170 Million Won in Fees
The head of a nursing home who obstructed the city gas meter reader's inspection and falsely reported usage to evade gas bills worth approximately 170 million won over seven years was arrested by the police.

On the 19th, the Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul announced that they had detained nursing home representative A on charges of fraud and obstruction of official duties for manipulating meter readings to avoid gas charges.
According to the police, A is accused of falsely reporting the usage as '0' for about seven years and obstructing the meter reader's inspection. It was revealed that A concealed the meter from external view using wooden panels and manipulated the meter readings by attaching and detaching a separate meter.
Additionally, A was caught in the act of obstructing police officers executing a search warrant by blocking their entry or pushing them, resulting in an on-the-spot arrest for obstruction of official duties.

A police official stated, "It is very dangerous for someone without professional skills to arbitrarily replace meters or conceal them in narrow spaces, as this increases the risk of gas explosions," and urged, "Please actively cooperate with gas meter readers during inspections."
