SK Telecom Hosts AI Robot Basketball Tournament: "Learning AI Coding is Fun"
'AI Robot Basketball Challenge' Held
SK Telecom announced on the 19th that it held the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Robot Basketball Challenge' last weekend.
SKT operated the SKT AI Playground booth at the national finals of the '16th Presidential Cup Amateur eSports Tournament,' held over two days from the 17th to the 18th, and hosted an AI robot basketball competition within the booth.
The AI robot basketball competition is a game where basketball robots coded with AI compete to score as many baskets as possible within a limited time. Participants can naturally become familiar with AI-based coding through participation in the robot basketball competition.
About 300 participants, including students and adults, took part in the two-day event held at the Yi Sun-sin Gymnasium in Asan, Chungnam. After preliminary rounds, Ms. Hwang Seon-yu, who scored 26 baskets in 3 minutes, won the final championship.
SKT also held sessions for students participating in the event to learn AI machine learning through simple robot creation. Participants used the 'LEGO Spike Prime' kit to operate robots coded with block-based commands on a machine learning basis, increasing their interest in AI.
