Kim Min-seok, a four-term member of the Democratic Party of Korea, was elected as the senior Supreme Council member with a total vote share of 18.23% at the Democratic Party's 1st Regular National Party Members' Convention held on the afternoon of the 18th at the KSPO Dome in Olympic Park, Seoul.
Supreme Council member Kim served as the situation room chief during the 22nd general election, overseeing election operations and announcing key policies, emerging as a major figure in the Shinmyeong faction (Shin Lee Jae-myung faction).
He is a former '86 activist,' having served as president of the Seoul National University student council and chairman of the National Student Federation. He was the youngest elected member at age 32 during the 15th general election and was re-elected in the 16th general election. In 1990, as a symbolic figure of the '386 generation,' he was recruited into politics and closely assisted the late former President Kim Dae-jung.

However, he lost the 2002 Seoul mayoral election to Lee Myung-bak of the Grand National Party, and during the presidential election phase that same year, he left the party and joined Chung Mong-joon’s camp, sparking controversy as a so-called 'political turncoat.'
In the 21st general election, he was elected in Seoul Yeongdeungpo-eul, his former constituency, re-entering the National Assembly after 18 years. He secured his fourth term in the 22nd general election.
