View original imageHwang Changsun, the newly appointed Chief of Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency, held his inauguration ceremony and began his official duties on the 16th.
At the ceremony held in Kim Yongwon Hall, Chief Hwang stated, "It is a heavy responsibility to take on the role as the 21st Chief of Daejeon Police," and emphasized, "Let us set the direction of Daejeon Police solely on the citizens, and strive to become a more attentive and responsible police force."
He continued, "Although Daejeon is regarded as one of the most livable cities in the country, illegal activities such as rental fraud that discourages the younger generation, youth drug abuse, and reckless driving are still prevalent in our surroundings," and urged, "Let us further strengthen preventive policing activities and enhance our investigative capabilities to ensure the safety and peaceful daily lives of our citizens."
Chief Hwang was appointed as an inspector (KPA 6th class) in 1990 and has served as the chief of Ansan Danwon Police Station, Seoul Dobong Police Station, and as Director of the Traffic Planning Division at the National Police Agency. After being promoted to Senior Superintendent in 2021, he served as the Head of the Autonomous Police Division at Chungbuk Provincial Police Agency and as the Situation Management Officer at the National Police Agency, before being promoted to Chief Superintendent General in 2023 and serving as the Planning and Coordination Officer at the National Police Agency.
