20s Part-Time Worker Installing Air Conditioner in Cafeteria Dies Amid 34-Degree Heatwave
287 Heat Illness Patients Reported This Year in Jeonnam
A man in his 20s died from heat-related illness symptoms while installing an air conditioner in a middle school cafeteria in Jangseong, Jeollanam-do.
According to Yonhap News on the 15th, a report was received around 4:40 p.m. on the 13th that Mr. A (28) was unconscious in a middle school cafeteria in Jangseong-gun. Mr. A was taken to the hospital for treatment but eventually passed away. It was reported that Mr. A, who was working part-time installing an air conditioner in the cafeteria, complained of dizziness and other symptoms. At the time, there were no cooling facilities inside the cafeteria.
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency classified the death as heat-related illness. This is the second heat-related death case in Jeollanam-do this year.
