KHNP Shin Hanul Unit 1 Resumes Power Generation and Reaches Normal Operation Output
Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters (Director Lee Seyong) announced that Shin Hanul Unit 1 (pressurized water reactor, 1.4 million kW class), which experienced an automatic turbine shutdown on August 1, has resumed power generation after completing fault analysis and maintenance.
The cause of the turbine shutdown at Shin Hanul Unit 1 was a false signal from the control card in the process instrumentation and control system, which collects and analyzes the status and variables of plant equipment. The faulty control card was replaced with a new one to resolve the issue.
Shin Hanul Unit 1 resumed power generation at 21:49 on August 8 and reached normal operating output at 23:20 on August 9.
Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters stated that it will continue to do its utmost to ensure the safe operation of the nuclear power plant and will transparently disclose any relevant information in the event of any unusual occurrences at the plant.
