No Damage Reported Among Overseas Koreans
A passenger plane crashed in Brazil, killing all 61 people on board.
According to S?o Paulo authorities on the 9th (local time), an ATR-72 twin-turboprop passenger plane departing from Cascavel, Paran?, and heading to Guarulhos, S?o Paulo, crashed near a residential area close to a highway in the Vinhedo region of S?o Paulo state in the afternoon.
The aircraft was confirmed to be owned by Voepass Airlines, headquartered in S?o Paulo, with a total of 61 people on board, including 57 passengers and 4 crew members, all of whom are currently reported deceased.
Since the crash site was in a residential area, there were concerns about ground casualties, but so far, no casualties among residents on the ground have been reported.
Flight tracking site FlightRadar24 reported, "Analysis of data transmitted from the aircraft shows that during the last 60 seconds, it descended at a speed of 8,000 to 24,000 feet per minute."
So far, no Korean residents have been reported affected. The Korean Consulate General in S?o Paulo issued an emergency notice requesting, "Koreans residing in Brazil who have confirmed that 2nd or 3rd generation compatriots who do not use the Korean surname were on board, please contact us immediately."

S?o Paulo rescue authorities stated that they found the black box flight recorder at the crash site, are recovering the remains of the deceased passengers, and plan to investigate the exact cause of the passenger plane crash.
