Space Aviation Agency Begins Appointment Process for Directors of Hangwoo Research Institute and Astronomy Research Institute
The appointment process for the new directors of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, government-funded research institutes in the space sector that have been transferred to the Ministry of Space and Aviation, has begun.
On the 9th, the Ministry of Space and Aviation announced the recruitment notice for the directors of the two institutes on its website. On the same day, the boards of directors of both institutes held meetings and confirmed the decision to publicly recruit new directors.
The terms of the directors of both institutes expired before the Ministry of Space and Aviation was launched on May 27. Director Lee Sang-ryul of the Korea Aerospace Research Institute and Director Park Young-deuk of the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute are maintaining their positions until their successors are appointed.

According to the recruitment notice, applications will be accepted until the 26th, and each institute’s director recommendation screening committee will conduct document and interview evaluations, after which the board of directors will select the final candidate. Once approved by the Ministry of Space and Aviation, the appointment process will be completed. The newly appointed director may be reappointed once.
