Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Public Hearing on 'Improvement Measures for Two-Wheel Vehicle License Plates'
Held at the Korea Automobile Mobility Industry Association from 2 PM on the 7th
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will hold a public hearing to gather various opinions on the 'Improvement Plan for Two-Wheeled Vehicle License Plates.' The hearing will take place on the 7th from 2 PM to 4 PM at the Korea Automobile Mobility Industry Association. Experts, industry representatives, civic groups, and any interested citizens are welcome to attend and freely express their opinions.
Over the past five years, the number of registered two-wheeled vehicles has decreased by an average of 0.1% annually, while the number of traffic law violators and traffic accidents involving two-wheeled vehicles has increased by an average of 9.2% and 1.3% per year, respectively.
There have been continuous concerns that the current two-wheeled vehicle license plates are not only smaller in size compared to regular car license plates but also have smaller characters, making them difficult to recognize. Therefore, it is necessary to develop measures to improve the visibility of two-wheeled vehicle license plates.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has prepared the 'Improvement Plan for Two-Wheeled Vehicle License Plates' through overseas case studies, surveys, and expert and industry discussions. The improvement plan includes a nationwide numbering system reform for two-wheeled vehicle license plates, design changes, and the feasibility of introducing front license plates.
According to a public survey conducted to improve two-wheeled vehicle license plates, 96% of respondents agreed on the necessity of improving the license plates, and 94% responded that improving the existing plates would help prevent illegal driving.
