The Democratic Party calls the passage of the Livelihood Support Fund Act and the impeachment motion against Lee Jin-sook "opposition's reckless lawmaking"
Gwak Gyutaek "Not Meoksanism but Maksanism"
On the 2nd, the People Power Party repeatedly criticized the ruling Democratic Party and other major opposition parties for their unilateral passage of the nationwide 250,000 won support law (Special Measures Act for the Payment of Livelihood Recovery Support Funds) and the impeachment motion against Broadcasting and Communications Commission Chairperson Lee Jin-sook, saying, "The major opposition parties are recklessly pushing through a series of harmful laws unrelated to people's livelihoods."
Senior Spokesperson Kwak Gyu-taek issued a statement on the same day, describing the nationwide 250,000 won support law as "a vote-buying act that aims to raise approval ratings by distributing cash without any regard for the national budget or the burden on future generations." He then raised his voice, saying, "The irresponsibility of the major opposition parties, which are driving people's livelihoods and the economy to the brink, is not 'meoksanism' but 'maksanism.'"
If the nationwide 250,000 won law is passed, regional love gift certificates worth 250,000 to 350,000 won (for low-income groups) per person will be distributed, and about 13 to 20 trillion won in taxes will be injected. The government and ruling party argue that this could stimulate inflation, making life harder for ordinary citizens, and worsen the national finances due to a large supplementary budget, thereby lowering the country's external credibility.
On the same day, Representative Park Soo-young criticized the law as a "cash distribution law" on Facebook, saying, "This bill, which has many problems, is an attempt by Representative Lee Jae-myung to make the public take basic income for granted by using 13 to 20 trillion won in taxes."
Regarding the opposition's submission of the Yellow Envelope Act (Labor Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act) to the plenary session, Senior Spokesperson Kwak criticized it as "a mindset that does not care even if the country's economy collapses due to pro-union and anti-business policies." Despite the unlimited debate (filibuster) that began the day before, the People Power Party entered another filibuster after the major opposition parties passed the nationwide 250,000 won support law and then submitted the Yellow Envelope Act. Representative Im I-ja began speaking as the first speaker at 4:34 p.m. that day.

Regarding the passage of the impeachment motion against Chairperson Lee, Spokesperson Kim Hye-ran criticized in a statement, "The Democratic Party's legislative rampage has crossed the line. They have halted government administration through indiscriminate impeachment of government officials and have attempted to perform judicial acts themselves through indiscriminate special investigations." She continued, "There are as many as 124 economic bills, including the high-level radioactive waste special law and the semiconductor support law, pending in the Industry, Trade, Energy, Small and Medium Venture Business Committee," emphasizing, "While the Democratic Party repeatedly commits outrages by easily and quickly submitting special investigations and impeachment motions for political strife through the Speaker of the National Assembly, bills for people's livelihoods are not even being discussed."
