Ulsan City to Support Young People Caring for Ill Family Members
Applications Open for Family Caregiving Youth Aged 13-34
Annual Support of 2 Million Won for Self-Care and Manpower Provided
Ulsan City is accepting applications for the 'Dedicated Family Care Support Service' from family care youth aged 13 to 34 who reside in the region until the 30th of this month.
The 'Dedicated Family Care Support Service' is a program that systematically connects care and medical services for sick family members and provides support such as scholarships, financial aid, and housing for the youth themselves.
Youth from eligible households with income and assets at or below 100% of the median level may also receive a self-care allowance of 2 million KRW per year through a selection process.
This service targets those aged 13 to 34 who are solely responsible for caring for sick family members due to circumstances. Selection criteria include living at the same address as the family member in need of care and the absence of other adult family members in the household.
Once selected, dedicated personnel from the Youth Future Center will provide ongoing case management. Applications and further inquiries can be made through the website.
Jang Taejun, Director of Welfare, Veterans, and Women’s Affairs, stated, "Through this dedicated pilot project for vulnerable youth, we will establish a system to provide various forms of support to family care youth and isolated or reclusive youth who have been in the blind spots of care."
In April this year, Ulsan City was selected for the 'Dedicated Pilot Project for Family Care and Isolated/Reclusive Youth' by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The city established the dedicated Youth Future Center in the Innovation City of Jung-gu and designated the Ulsan Welfare Family Promotion Social Service Institute as the trustee, beginning temporary operations on July 23.
