Gyeonggi-do Conducts 'Detailed Investigation' on 3,900 Vulnerable Households Identified
Gyeonggi Province will conduct a survey on 3,900 energy-vulnerable households selected through crisis information data over the two months of August and September.
Gyeonggi Province plans to verify whether the households predicted to be in crisis through data are actually facing difficulties and provide necessary support.
Earlier, Gyeonggi Province used the Welfare Blind Spot Detection System operated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare to select a total of 3,900 households vulnerable to monthly rent difficulties expected during the summer heatwave, including those with power outages, water outages, gas outages, overdue electricity bills, overdue communication fees, and financial delinquencies. The Welfare Blind Spot Detection System can identify and analyze 46 crisis indicators from 19 institutions, such as health insurance premium arrears, power outages, and water outages.
Gyeonggi Province, together with 31 cities and counties, plans to confirm the crisis status of the selected 3,900 households through phone calls or visits. For households found to be in crisis, welfare services such as public support including basic livelihood security and emergency assistance, as well as connections to private resources, will be provided.
Kim Hana, Director of the Welfare Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Considering that this is a period when difficulties for vulnerable groups increase due to heat-related illnesses or the burden of cooling costs caused by the heatwave, we are striving to proactively identify and support welfare blind spots, including energy-vulnerable groups, by utilizing big data on crisis information."
