Gyeonggi Special Judicial Police Crack Down on Illegal Activities in 'Natural Parks and Surrounding Areas' During Vacation Season
The Gyeonggi-do Special Judicial Police Unit will crack down on illegal activities in natural parks and surrounding areas within the province.
View original imageGyeonggi Province will conduct a focused investigation into illegal activities from the 2nd to the 16th of this month targeting natural parks and surrounding buildings, unauthorized use within river areas, food service establishments, campgrounds, and lodging facilities.
Natural parks are a type of protected area designated by the national or local government as parks encompassing vast regions including natural terrains such as mountains, forests, and seas, closely resembling nature conservation zones. In Gyeonggi Province, there are natural parks such as Yeoninsan and Surisan Provincial Parks.
The Gyeonggi Province Special Judicial Police announced on the 1st that they will intensively crack down on 120 locations including restaurants and campgrounds operating within natural parks and their surroundings for ▲ unauthorized construction and installation of structures ▲ unauthorized use of land within river areas ▲ violations of food service operators’ compliance and food preservation standards and specifications ▲ unregistered campgrounds and unreported lodging business operations.
The current 'Natural Parks Act' stipulates that anyone who constructs, extends, remodels, reconstructs, or relocates buildings or structures without permission shall be subject to imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 30 million KRW.
Additionally, the 'River Act' prescribes that unauthorized occupation of land within river areas without permission shall be punishable by imprisonment for up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million KRW.
Furthermore, the 'Food Sanitation Act' mandates that if a business operator violates compliance by manufacturing, processing, cooking, selling, subdividing, transporting, displaying, or storing products or food past their expiration date or their raw materials for sale purposes, they shall face imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 30 million KRW. Violations of food preservation standards and specifications carry penalties of imprisonment for up to five years or fines up to 50 million KRW.
Moreover, the 'Tourism Promotion Act' imposes imprisonment for up to two years or fines up to 20 million KRW for operating camping businesses without registration.
