Jeonbuk National University, Fostering 'Hydrogen Industry Innovation Talent' Specialized for Local Companies
Selected for this Year's Ministry of Industry Public Contest... Annual Support of About 500 Million Won
Jeonbuk National University (President Yang Obong) has been selected for the "Regional-Linked Hydrogen Industry Innovative Talent Training Project," which was announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in 2024 as part of the ministry's collaborative talent project.
According to Jeonbuk National University on the 30th, this project is a pilot program targeting undergraduate and graduate students. It aims to cultivate excellent talent specialized in regional hydrogen industry development policies and the demands of local companies. This year, 10 universities nationwide were selected, with Jeonbuk National University chosen in the Jeonbuk region.

View original imageJeonbuk National University will receive 495 million KRW in funding from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for one year and plans to collaborate with small and medium-sized energy-related companies both inside and outside the province, including Iljin Highsolus Co., Ltd., Vinatek Co., Ltd., Ahes Co., Ltd., Vina FCM Co., Ltd., Doosan Fuel Cell Co., Ltd., and the Korea Institute of Energy Research. The university aims to foster specialized talent and strengthen corporate competitiveness.
Since 2005, Jeonbuk National University has been conducting workforce training projects related to hydrogen fuel cells for over 20 years. Its know-how and excellent human and physical infrastructure have been recognized. It is expected to play a pioneering role in realizing Jeonbuk Province's vision of improving the quality of life for local residents through the hydrogen economy.

Professor Yoo Dongjin (Department of Biotechnology and Department of Energy Storage and Conversion Engineering) said, "The purpose of the project is to strengthen the competitiveness of Jeonbuk's hydrogen fuel cell industry and to cultivate innovative talent." He added, "As a hub university in the Jeonbuk region for revitalizing the local hydrogen industry, we will do our best to develop technologies that can be immediately utilized by glocal hydrogen fuel cell companies in the hydrogen sector."
