Providing Opportunities for Harmony and Communication Through Activities with Families
Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 30th that it successfully held the "Family Communication Up Healing Camp" in cooperation with the Gurye Office of Education Wee Center for 2 days and 1 night from July 26 to 27.
This camp holds great significance as it was jointly hosted by two local community institutions, the Gurye-gun Mental Health Welfare Center and the Gurye Office of Education Wee Center, with the shared goal of promoting the healthy growth and development of children and adolescents.
The camp was conducted for local elementary school students and their parents, providing an opportunity to gather, communicate, and heal together, thereby enhancing various exchanges and positive interactions within families.
The camp proceeded in the following order: ▲ role-playing program to improve family communication ▲ recreation activities with family ▲ becoming one as a family through animal mask packs ▲ making family scents with aroma oils (perfume, hand cream) program.
In particular, during the role-playing program, participants switched roles between child and parent to act out given situations and had time to understand each other's perspectives. At the same time, they practiced the "I-message" communication method, which involves expressing one's own opinions while respecting the other person.
After the program ended, participants shared their impressions and completed a satisfaction survey. One family who participated in the camp said, "We realized the preciousness of family that we had forgotten in our busy daily lives, and through this camp, we were able to get closer to our children." They added, "It was a very happy time, and we are grateful for providing such an opportunity."
The Gurye-gun mayor stated, "The role of family is very important for the healthy emotional development of children," and added, "I hope this camp was a meaningful time to feel the importance of family, and we will continue to promote programs to improve mental health in the local community to create a happy Gurye."
Meanwhile, the Gurye-gun Mental Health Welfare Center provides services such as case management and rehabilitation (recovery) programs to help individuals with severe mental illnesses (such as major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder) return to daily life.
